American League Team vs Team Results 2017
It is good to know what teams are beating which others. It is even more important to know the hierarchy in the division games. Each team will play a team in their division 19 times. That accounts for 76 of their 162 games. Of their remaining 86 games, 20 are Interleague matchups. These games are not always "strength of schedule" fair because there are rivalries and such. That leaves 66 games to play the teams in the other divisions in their league.
A couple of notes about the chart above.
There are no teams more dominant in their division that CLE and HOU. CLE won 50 of the 76 games against the CENT foes. It was somewhat expected from them. HOU did the exact same thing though in a division that many see as tough. HOU was 14-5 vs SEA last season. The gap to CLE is 9 games from MIN. The gap to HOU is 11 from LAA. That a lot of making up to do. By far the most competitive division is AL East. NYY won 44 games with BOS at 41. TOR had winning records vs NYY and BAL did the same to BOS. The lower tier of teams does win against the better teams in the division. Notice how the BOS and NYY do not play well when playing teams from the AL West. BAL had more wins vs the West than either BOS or NYY.
I am sure you can find other such interesting analysis.
